1998 Marbles Expert II with Cocobolo Gamegetter handle
Many collectors regard the Marble knives made during the Mike Stewart/Lauerman Era (1997-2002) to be the finest Marbles knives produced in many years. Their use of 52100 steel for the blades, innovative designs, and quality control make them sought out by both users and collectors. It was after that time that Marbles started having knives made in China and the reason for Mike Stewart’s departure to form Bark River Knives.
The Gamegetter Cocobolo handles are not only beautiful but functional. Instead of ending in a hard aluminum or stag pommel the handle flows downward in a gentle flared design with palm swell providing a comfortable and positive grip. This knife had some early signs of corrosion on one side of the tang but it was cleaned off and protected with Renaissance Wax. Judge for yourself from the photos.
