70's Browning Sportsman Series model 40181
Browning Sportsman Series model 40181
In 1968, Browning introduced a line of cutlery in the form of 3 fixed-blade hunting knives and a folding knife designed by Custom Knifemaker Gil Hibben. The selection of knives was later expanded and produced in the USA, Japan and Germany featuring a leather sheath.
The Browning Sportsman Series Model 40181 is a Trailing Point Hunting Knife and is 8" OAL with a 4" blade. The blade was made of 440c Stainless Steel, and the wood handle is Staminawood. Knife was made by Browning in the USA. These Browning USA knives were made in a small high quality benchmade shop in Utah that Gil Hibben was a partner in.
This knife is used but in great condition, the rugged leather sheath is a later model Browning USA sheath. Judge condition from the photos. This is a classic, vintage, well-designed hunting and skinning knife, sharp and ready to use. Good all around knife for camp, hunt or carry that will not make you look like a newbie.
