1974 Smith & Wesson Collector Series Bowie #0296
Based on the success of the S&W model 6010 Bowie, S&W offered the Collector Series of knives. A Limited Edition of around 800 serially numbered knives. Custom treatment of these knives designed by Blackie Collins includes an acid etched game scene on the blade, sculptured Sterling Silver guard and pommel and a hand engraved escutcheon inlaid on the handle. The knife was packaged in a wood presentation case with S&W logo. This knife is number 0296.

This knife is excellent; the Wood Presentation case shows fading and handling as well as the inside fabric. Probably displayed open for all to see.
T Samuel R Shortes owned and operated his own Jewelry manufacturing company prior to setting up Aurum Etching in 1974; he was no stranger to fine and intricate work. The new Aurum facility and was used to cast the solid sterling silver handle parts of the very first knife (or knife in series) that Aurum Etchings ever produced, it was the Smith & Wesson 1974 collectors series bowie knife designed by Blackie Collins, The blade etch was the finest level of detail that Aurum produced and were actually solid sterling silver parts, not to be confused with nickel silver. #0296-0725
