Unique S&W Outdoorsman Model 6020 #15070

In 1972 Smith and Wesson worked with well-known and innovative knife designer Blackie Collins to introduce the company into the knife business. This program was announced in 1975 and seven knives were initially offered. Called the Survival Series they included a Bowie, Outdoorsman, Survival, Skinner a folding hunter knife, a fisherman knife, and a filet knife.

Smith & Wesson called the Outdoorsman "an ideal general-purpose hunting and camping designed knife with richly grained black Wessonwood handle that is contoured for sure, comfortable grip. Full length flat spline provides substantial working surface right to the point. Emergency equipment can be stored in Hollow handle with a  protective knurled brass end cap. Overall length is 10"with 5.5" blade. Weighs 10 oz".

This knife is used (no box) but amazing, the blade appears untouched and sharp. The production # 15070 would place it around 1976. The sheath is great, the model 158 sheath fits the knife like a glove, sturdy, easy access and silent. Wessonwood hollow handle is good and the pommel dent free. The brass finger guard has marks from being stored in the sheath. You judge from the photos..
