1975 S&W Outdoorsman Model 6020 #3879

In 1972 Smith and Wesson worked with well-known and innovative knife designer Blackie Collins to introduce the company into the knife business. This program was announced in 1975 and seven knives were initially offered. Called the Survival Series they included a Bowie, Outdoorsman, Survival, Skinner a folding hunter knife, a fisherman knife, and a filet knife.

S&W Called the Outdoorsman "an ideal general-purpose hunting and camping designed knife with richly grained black Wessonwood handle that is contoured for sure, comfortable grip. Full length flat spline provides substantial working surface right to the point. Emergency equipment in cavity in handled has protective knurled brass end cap. Overall length is 10"with 5.5" blade. Weighs 10 oz".

This knife is amazing; the blade appears untouched and very sharp. It has the 158 Outdoorsman fold-over leather sheath, a great option. The Wessonwood hollow handle is excellent and the pommel dent free. An extremely low serial number #3879.
