Smith & Wesson American Series Knives. Model 6083
In 1977 following the successful Smith & Wesson Blackie Collins designed series of knives, Robert Ferraro an engineer was requested to design a new series of medium-priced folding and fixed blade knives. In 1981 Smith & Wesson introduced the American Series consisting of 4 fixed blade knives. Constructed of 440 Stainless steel with a “Posi-Grip” handle of rubber directly molded to the full tang blade with a heavy brass hilt to protect the hand. They were offered in four popular styles, Large Upsweep, Small Upsweep, Light Duty and Heavy Duty.
Model 6083 is a lighter duty member of the line with a 3 3/4" blade.
This knife is model 6083: a good all-around ranch knife and EDC. Durable Knife is used and has been carried and appreciated. Has the unique S&W Genuine Leather Sheath instead of the Wessonhide vinyl sheath.
