1981 American Series 6051 Boot Knife

In 1977 following the successful Smith & Wesson Blackie Collins designed Survival Series of knives, Robert Ferraro an engineer at S&W was requested to design a new series of medium-priced folding and fixed blade knives. Three years in development, in 1981 Smith & Wesson introduced the American Series Featuring a 440 stainless steel blade, Posi-Grip handle and Wessonhide sheath.

Manufactured in the USA by Vermont Knives for Smith & Wesson they were sold only through the S&W dealers. The 6051 Boot knife came in a satin finish and 6051 B featuring a black blade. This boot knife was popular because of the use of 440 stainless steel, sturdy sheath w/clip, and its quick maneuverable size. The knife features a:

  • 4 3/4" Double Edge, black coated Blade to reduce reflection.
  • Posi-grip handle
  • Brass Guard

  • Boot/Belt sheath with Spring Metal clip and quick release safety strap
