2 Kershaw Bowie Knives models 4071 & 4072; 7.5" & 9" Bowies with matching # 430
In 1992 Kershaw commissioned Dan Harrison, a gifted bladesmith to design and produce a limited series of 3 Bowie Knives;
#4070 - 6" Bowie
#4071 - 7 1/2" Bowie
#4072 - 9" Bowie
These Knives were handmade in Texas by Dan Harrison and featured a harness leather sheath made by his wife Carol. Dan Harrison a great designer and knife maker passed away recently, a huge loss to the knife industry.
Blades are made of premium quality tool and diemaker's stainless steel alloy, triple tempered for optimum hardness and edge-holding qualities, before they're double hollow-ground and polished to a mirror finish. Handles are multiple layers of natural hardwood veneers, pressure-laminated and sealed, are cut along the bias and then individually shaped and finished to fit over the massive full length tang of the blade. High-polished brass guards and brass pommels compliment the intricate woodgrain patterns.
Kershaw offered the knives individually but also offered a 3 piece set of all 3 models with matching numbers. The model 4070, 6" Bowie is not available with this set, it may have been kept or sold separately. This is a great 2 piece set with low production number of the 2 larger Bowies and in excellent, unused condition. Judge for yourself from the photos.
