Rigid RG-69 14" Bowie. Seki, Japan; G. Sakai
Rigid Brand Model RG-69 Fixed Blade Knife made in Seki City Japan by G. Sakai. 9 1/2” razor sharp blade. U2X steel same as AUS-8 stainless. 14 1/4” overall length. Brass guard, non-slip kraton (rubberized) handles, with lanyard hole. Knife circa late 1980’s- early 90's.
This model, the RG-69, was made in SEKI CITY, JAPAN by G. SAKAI, (which also made Al Mar's fixed blades), and resembles Cold Steel's Trailmaster Bowie. This is a high quality piece. The Blade which measures 9 1/2" is razor sharp, and is marked as "U2X Steel" which is a proprietary steel of G SAKAI, which is basically the same as AUS-8 Stainless (similar to 440C).
Overall length is 14 1/4". Features a brass finger guard and non slip rubberized (Kraton) handless with a lanyard hole. Excellent balance and feel. Includes a top quality leather belt sheath. This set appears to have not been used. Looks like factory edge but judge for yourself. Includes original box, cardboard knife protector, no marks on blade.
The Teton Bowie was an offering from Blackjack Knives back in the 90s.They were made by G. SAKAI in Seki Japan. He also made the Trailmaster for Cold Steel and the RG 69 for Rigid, which is similar to the Teton Bowie.
They are reported to run in the Rc62-Rc63 Rockwell range.
