RIGID MODEL RG-46; Rigid Knives were founded in the early 1970s by former Buck employees; Bill Duff, Dean Parks, and Don Collum in Santee, CA., later moving to Lake Hamilton, AR before going out of business in the late 1980s. Their knives were well built in fact they were accused of overbuilding knives. They also had knives made in Seki, Japan to their exacting standards. This knife was mfg. in Seki. Japan by Tak Fukuta.
Takao Fukuta moved to the USA in 1970 to sell knives and continue to master his craft. In 1978 he was recognized by Robert Wald “Bob” Loveless, known as the “god of knives” in the United States, with whom he began an apprenticeship. The same year, he was the first Japanese person to be accepted into the American Knife Guild for his high-quality work the “Loveless folding knife.” Since Mr. Loveless appreciated Takao FUKUTA, he shared with him his skills in making hand-crafted knives.
This Heavy Duty Bowie Knife is not only handsome it is totally functional. 12 1/4" OAL with 7" blade of 3/16th Stainless Steel. Stainless steel is easy to sharpen and keep sharp. A well designed knife, full tang blade featuring genuine hardwood scales with orange spacers secured by brass pins. Solid brass full finger guard with brass pommel and lanyard hole. Thick leather sheath with keeper strap.
This is a big knife OAL 12 1/4", Blade 7" of 3/16th thick Stainless Steel, blade depth is 1-1/2". Knife weight 15.2 oz, Knife and sheath weight 19.5 oz.
This knife has been carried and shows marks on the sheath caused by poor attempts to insert knife in sheath, the blade is clean with small sharpening scratches (barely visible) on the right side at the tip. Judge the knife from the photos. it is listed used and is sharp.
