In 1981 S&W introduced a new series of knives called the American Series. Featuring a 440 stainless steel blade, Posi-Grip handle and Wessonhide sheath. Those knives were packaged in a display box, but occasionally you would see one in a plain box, genuine leather sheath with the S&W logo and a softer Posi-Grip handle - this is one of those rare models.
Manufactured in the USA by Vermont Knives for Smith & Wesson they were sold through S&W to their dealers. The 6051 Boot knives came in a satin finish and 6051 B featuring a black blade. The boot knife is very popular because of the use of 440 stainless steel, sturdy sheath w/clip, and it's quick maneuverable size. The knife features a:
4 3/4" Double Edge, satin finished Blade
Safety Lanyard hole
Boot/Belt sheath with Spring Metal clip and quick release safety strap
Full Length Tang
weight 6.3 oz.
This knife has been stored in it's original box, never used or sharpened. See Photos. Of all of the Boot Knives I have handled, this is my favorite, Good steel, great grip, perfect size and weight.
