Used WWII Cattaraugus 225Q survivor with left hand leather sheath - $159
This is a WWII Cattaraugus 225Q. For a history of the Cattaraugus 225Q go to Abner's Blog;fitzwillies.com/the-blog/cattaraugus-225q/. The Knife is 10 3/8" long and has a 6" blade of 1095 steel, a worn leather washer handle and an equally worn left handed leather sheath. The sheath has a tear on the right side where the blade slips in. While the blade shows corrosion from being stored in the sheath it has not been worn down a great deal from sharpening and use, the leather washers and pommel are still tight and the sheath hold the knife. The handle was sanded slightly and sealed with Bees Wax and I did go over the blade to remove any rust, sharpen the blade to make it usable and sealed it with Renaissance Wax. The leather handles have a good , solid feel and the bale is awesome. These are amazing knives continuing to go up in value and demand and hard to find with a blade that has not been worn down a great deal. It is however used and over 70 years old. This would make a great survival/camp knife for someone, however the current sheath might need to be stored and a new one built,
If you wish to restore the handle with new washers go to: http://www.twinleather.com/twnhandl.htm, the TW-K4 seems to be the closest size.
